The NRA Refuse To Be A Victim® (RTBAV) program is a personal safety and crime-prevention course designed to help people reduce their risk of becoming victims of crime. It focuses on awareness, prevention, and decision-making, not on fighting skills or weapon use.

-Situational awareness and avoidance strategies
-Personal safety at home, in public places, and while traveling
-Safety considerations for parking lots, ATMs, and public transportation
-Cyber safety and identity protection basics

-Out-of-Town Travel Strategies
-Personal Protection Devices
-Domestic Violence and Stalking
-Developing a personal safety plan and mindset

Course Requirements

Minimum Age:

-Typically, you need to be at least 13 years old to take the course. However, younger kids can sometimes participate with parental consent.  This class can also be tailored to younger children.

Duration:


-The course generally takes 4 hours of classroom time.  It may go longer if there's a lot of questions.

Goal of the course

To empower participants with practical knowledge and confidence so they can recognize danger early, make safer choices, and reduce vulnerability in everyday life.
